Every party girl needs a hat!  Check out these simple ideas that can be made with scrap papers, glitter and feathers.

Make It: New Years Eve Tee for Baby

Even babies want to ring in the New Year!  This is quick and easy snapsuit makeover can be made in under 1 hour!  It does not get any easier than this craft!  This design is from my book, 101 Snappy Fashions.

Materials:

Baby Snapsuit

Rit Dye - Purple Bottle or Powder

Letter Iron-ons
Iron

Get Crafty:

Following the instruction on the day package, dye the snapsuit purple.
Wash and Dry the snapsuit.

Using an iron, add the letters in a random line across the snapsuit spelling "wake me at midnight".

That is it!

Pretty Easy.

101 Tees: New Years Eve Tee

Sparkle, Baby.  Sparkle!

Re-purposed a loose and sparkley scarf into a funky collar for an out of this world look this New Years Eve! This scarf was snagged at the dollar store!

Let's MAKE!

Begin with a v-neck dressy T-shirt. Pin a loose knit sparkle scarf around the neckline. Keep it loose and billowy with a large buildup near one shoulder.  Hand sew the scarf into place with matching thread. Hand-wash and hang to dry. 

Make it: New Year's Eve Centerpiece

New Year’s Eve – Candle Plate and Candle

Materials:
Matte Mod Podge
Glass plate
Chunky candle
Foam paintbrush
Scissors
Scrapbook papers – 3 different styles
Decorative feathers, trims & Silk flowers
Hot glue
Sticky back “new year” rhinestones

Steps:

1. Trace around the plate onto a piece of scrapbook paper. (leave a little extra for overhang – this will be trimmed later). Cut out the design. Apply mod podge to the back of the plate and to both side of the cut paper. Place the paper design side down on the back of the plate. Use your fingers to press out any air bubbles. Allow to dry.

2. Cut a second piece of scrapbook paper to fit the top-inside of the plate. Apply Mod Podge to the back and front of the paper. Position the paper in the center of the plate, press out any air bubbles with you fingers and smooth your brush strokes. Allow to dry and hot glue decorative trim around the edge of the paper.


3. Hot glue decorative trim around the outer edge of the plate. Add a flower to one corner and apply the “new year” stickers across the top of the plate.

4. Trim the last piece of scrapbook paper to fit around the candle. Apply Mod Podge to the back of the paper. Wrap the paper around the candle, hold into position. Apply more Mod Podge to topcoat over the design.

New Year’s Eve – Champagne Champagne Gift Box

Materials:
FolkArt paint – silver anniversary 506
FolkArt Extreme Glitter – silver
Mod Podge matte
Cardboard wine gift holder
Foam paintbrush
Scrapbook papers – 1 print and 1 solid
Hot glue
Feathers and decorative trims
Chipboard letters “celebrate”
Silk flowers
Rhinestones


Steps:

1. Remove the top of the wine holder, paint the top with the silver anniversary paint. Next, topcoat with three layers of silver extreme glitter. Once dry, hot glue trim around the top. Add feathers and flowers to the top with hot glue.

2. Next, trim the printed-paper to fit around the wine holder. Trim a strip of solid paper to fit down the wine holder. (you might need to piece the papers) Apply Mod Podge to the wine holder and the fronts and backs of the scrapbook papers. Wrap the printed-paper around the holder, press out air bubbles, smooth brush strokes on the top. Next add the solid strip of paper the same way. Allow to dry.

3. Add trim around the top and bottom of the holder. Hot glue chipboard letters down the strip of solid paper spelling “celebrate.”

Girls Night New Year’s Eve – Wall or Door Decor

Materials:
Mod Podge matte
Round wood disk - large
Foam paintbrush
Scissors
Scrapbook paper – pink
Scrapbook paper – black
Circle punch
Chipboard letters –“happy new year”
Sticky rhinestones
Trims, feathers and silk flowers
Hot glue

Steps:

1. Using the round disk as a guide, trim the pink paper to fit the disk. Apply a coat of Mod Podge to the base of the disk and to the back of the paper. Place the paper on the disk and press out any air bubbles.

2. Use the circle punch to create small circles from the black paper. Apply a small amount of glue to the pack of the circles and position in a random pattern on the pink-papered disk.

3. Hot glue the chipboard letters to the papered disk. Add a few rhinestones.

4. Create a hanger by hot gluing a strip of trim (in a u-shape) to the back of the disk. Add fluff to the door décor by hot gluing trims around the disk. Add a flower pop, by gluing a few feathers and a glittery flower to the top center.

Make it: New Years Eve Party Hats

You can custom make your own New Year's Eve party hats with a few simple supplies and some basic hats from the dollar store. I found several different varieties for altering. Happy New Year!

Materials:
FolkArt paint – silver anniversary 506
FolkArt Extreme Glitter – silver
Mod Podge matte
Dollar store party hats - cardboard
Foam paintbrush
Scrapbook papers
Hoot glue
Feathers and feather trim
Chipboard shapes
Silk flowers
Rhinestones

Steps:
1. Begin with dollar store party hats. Disassemble the hats.

2. To make a glitter hat, paint the hat with the silver anniversary paint. Next, topcoat with three layers of silver extreme glitter. Once dry reassemble the hat.

3. To make a Mop Podge hat, trace the hat shape onto the back of a piece of scrapbook paper. Trim the paper. Apply mod podge to the back of the paper and position onto the cardboard hat. Use you fingers to press out any air bubbles. Apply Mod Podge to the front of the paper if desired.

4. Decorate: Using hot glue, add feather trims, decorative trims and loose feathers to the hats. Add chipboard shapes or rhinestones letters to the hats. Hot glue silk flowers to the hats.

Quickie Projects for New Years Eve - part 3

Party Signs

Create a fun and welcoming sign with a small TOP HAT & some scrap book paper. I did a little embossing and added some fabby rhinestone letters. Perfect for on a bar or buffet table.

Craft a yard sign made from foam core board. Place it on your front walk so guests can easily find your home and neighbors can get in the New Year's Eve spirit.

Quickie Projects for New Years Eve - part 2

Countdown Clock, Party Crowns & Tagged Glasses

Adorn plastic party glasses with a bit of feather trim and a few ribbons, add a festive tag and some wired stars and your guests will be ready to party. Tip: Use low temp hot glue to attach the glasses to the base.

Count Down in style with a recycled record album clock. I added guitar picks for numbers a few sticky back rhinestones and some lime green letter stickers to spell "Happy New Year". You can pick up the clock
parts at any local craft store.

Embellish simple party hats with bits of tinsil, feathers and butterflies. Don't forget to add glitter!

Quickie Projects for New Years Eve - part 1

“Toast of the Town” Party Glasses and Confetti Poppers

Tis the season for toasting and whether you are planning a party for 4 or 40, I have some simple and easy craft projects that will make your glasses be the “toast of the town.”

If you are planning an intimate gathering, pick up some inexpensive champagne glasses and transform them into memorable toasting glasses with a little etching cream. If you are throwing a larger party and the idea of washing all that glassware is a little daunting, use plastic glasses and a little garland to create fanciful tinsel toasters. For extra party pizzazz, craft up some easy confetti poppers.

Along with these craft projects, here are a few tips on toasting. Be yourself and speak from your heart. Keep the toast articulate and humorous as well as appropriate and to the point. Be brief and end on a positive note. If you are stumped for the perfect toasting words, just raise your glass and a say “cheers!”

Etched Toasting Glasses

Supplies:
Champagne glass
Letter stickers or shapes
Glass etching cream
Paintbrush
Scissors
Rubber gloves
Sink

Steps:
1. Decide on a design plan. Cut around the letter stickers of your choice, leaving a space around the edge of the letter. Optional: If you want to use your own design, you can cut out a design from heavy-duty shelf paper.

2. Clean and dry glass thoroughly.

3. Making a stencil from the cut letter: Peel the letter from the cut piece and discard it. Make sure you keep any “inserts” from the letters (like the inside of an O). This will be the stencil.

4. Apply the stencil and any letter “inserts” to the glass. You can line them up straight or go for a more whimsical look by applying them randomly. You can use a piece of tape to help you line them up straight. Burnish the stencil into the glass using your fingers.

5. Applying the etching cream: While wearing rubber gloves and working on a protected surface open the etching cream. Using a paintbrush, liberally apply the etching cream inside the stencils. Remember that wherever the cream touches the glass will etch, so be careful not to go over the stencil.

6. Wait 5 minutes for the etching cream to react to the glass. Wearing rubber gloves, wash the etching cream off the glass and pull off the stickers.


Tinsel Toasters

Supplies:
Plastic champagne glass
Tinsel garland
Hot glue gun & glue

Steps:
1. Attach the base of the glass to the stem of the glass. If the glass feels flimsy, you can add a drop of hot glue to secure the base to the stem.

2. Wrap a 3-inch piece of garland around the stem of the glass and hot glue in place. (you can use a bamboo skewer to help hold the tinsel in place while hot gluing)

Confetti Poppers

Supplies:
Small plastic champagne glasses (bridal section of craft store)
Gold and black star shaped confetti
2” Gold notary seal sticker – Avery brand (office supply store)

Steps:
1. Fill the small champagne glass 3/4 of the way full with a scoopful of confetti.

2. Seal the top of the glass by centering the gold notary sticker over the opening of the glass and press down the sides of the sticker.

3. Punch the top of the seal with your finger and toss the confetti into the air.
