Quick and Easy Thanksgiving Craft: Doily Nested Pumpkins

Have you tried Mod Podge Stiffy?  It's one of our new favs....works just like the old Stiffy but now it is with the Mod Podge label so you can easily find it in the glue aisle.  We stiffened the doily into a nest shape and added a glittered pumpkin.

This project was designed for Plaid.  For more crafty ideas... check out all of our Plaid projects here and visit our "All About Cathie and Steve" board at Pinterest.

What you need:
Soup can
Tin foil
Stiffy ® Fabric Stiffener, 8 oz.
Medium sized doily
Small foam pumpkin
Foam paintbrush
FolkArt ® Acrylic Colors - Autumn Leaves, 2 oz.
FolkArt ® Extreme Glitter™ - Gold, 5 oz.
Plaid ® Hot Glue Gun Helpers
2 Felt leaves
Hot glue

Instructions:

1. Cover the outside of the soup can with tin foil and place on a protected work surface. Cover your surface with a plastic drop cloth if needed.

2. Soak the doily in Stiffy. Gently wring additional Stiffy from the doily. Place the doily over the tin can. Center so the edges are even. Allow to dry over night. Once dry, pull off the dried doily and remove any tin foil that may have stuck to the doily.

3. Paint the pumpkin with Autumn Leaves. Use two coats if necessary. Once dry, top coat with randomly applied Gold Extreme Glitter. Allow to dry.

4. Hot glue the pumpkin into the doily. Hot glue two felt leaves to the stem of the pumpkin.

PROJECT TIP: If glitter is not your thing, try other finish techniques like crackle finish or an antique wash.
