Saks Fifth Ave + My Pom Pom Trim = Carnival Candy Bar

How cute and fun is this Carnival Candy display!  I was so thrilled when the designer picked up my blue and red pom pom trim for the display at the Saks Contemporary Clothing event.  Better yet.... I was happy that event designers are shopping etsy for trims and supplies including graphic design.

This event at Saks was about fun, food and fashion!  You can see the whole candy spread over at Fab Gab.

DIY: Halloween Votives

This past weekend I was working on some Halloween designs.  I adore these Victorian skull cabochons...I started stocking them in my shop about a month ago and they are going like crazy.  I realized that I need to make a few goodies with them before the Halloween season is over. So of course I got out my hot glue and mod podge..... :)

Begin with a votive candle holder.  This one has a slight distressed / mercury glass look.  Grab some scrapbook paper, make a template of the glass (add extra to one side for overlapping), cut the template from scrapbook paper.

Coat the back of the paper with Mod Podge and wrap around the candle holder.

Overlap across the back and top coat with a layer of Mod Podge.

 Hot glue a strip of wide pleated or lacy ribbon around the center of the candle holder.

I used this one from my supply shop.

Glue a narrower ribbon down the center of the wide ribbon.  I used the black metallic ribbon from my shop.

Last I glued one of the Victorian skull cabs in the center of the votive.  I just love it!

Altered Mini Jars

Altered mini jars are popping up all over!  You can stuff them with everything from love notes to trinkets.  They are great for storing small beads and glitter too.  I was so excited when I spotted them for my shop!  I ordered a slew of them and have been making many different designs with them.

I especially love the idea of building a glass shrine or a mini terrarium with one.  To make a piece of jewelry, just wrap the neck with a few loops of twine or jump-ring some chain and dangle some charms around the neck.

The corks fill the opening nicely and are easy to remove.  They can be glued with a drop of two if you want to secure the cork.

I have the jars in the Alter Me section of the store.  You can see that section here.  They are sold by the dozen, 2" tall, 7/8" across the bottom, they come with cork toppers and they are clear glass.

New at the Supply Shop: flat twines, leaf garland, love birds and more.

I heart the soft metallic gold. 66 leaves per yard.

The silver is stunning.  Looks great with grey and black.

The new flat twines are available in pink, natural and grey.

Olive and Lavender ~ Oh La La

I have two new colors of flower rhinestones at my supply shop.

The lavender is soft and blends well with the purple rhinestones for a layered look.  The olive stones are my new rhinestone crush.  Mossy green - well any green is a favorite color of mine. 

All stones come packaged in a handy storage jar.

Stones measure 3/8" across.

New Tattered Silk Flower Embellishments

Tattered Fabric Silk Flowers

I am so excited about one of my new items at my etsy shop. These stunning silk flowers can be used to embellish altered fashions, making accessories or home decorating. The flowers are so delicate with layers and layers. The center has a beaded and rhinestone stamen. They measure just over 5" wide.

Perfect for creating hair flowers, pins, costume design, altered couture, hat making and jewelry design. The flower has a felt backing with a pin backing. Can be removed or used as a pin-on embellishment.
